MORE ILLAWARRA BUSINESSES INVITED to COMPETE FOR DEFENCE WORK

Liberal Senator for New South Wales, Senator the Hon Concetta Fierravanti-Wells has welcomed the upcoming Defence Market seminar to be hosted in Wollongong.

The ‘Introduction to the Defence Market’ seminar will be delivered by the Centre for Defence Industry Capability (CDIC) as part of a national series targeting businesses who have not yet worked with Defence and would like to learn more about the Defence market.

Senator Fierravanti-Wells said the Australian defence industry is front and centre of the Government’s vision and agenda for jobs and growth in the Australian economy.

“I am firmly focused on ensuring we are maximising the opportunities available for Illawarra businesses to contribute to our historic $200 billion renewal of defence capability,” Senator Fierravanti-Wells said.

Wollongong’s own Bisalloy Steels recently won work on the add-on armour range for armoured fighting vehicles being built by Rafael Advanced Defense Systems.

“Companies in Wollongong are already contributing to the workforce behind Australia’s proud Defence industry.

“Businesses such as Bisalloy are providing invaluable job opportunities and career options for workers and young people in the Illawarra region.”

“Thursday’s seminar is a great opportunity for businesses who haven’t previously considered working in the defence market to learn what is involved.”

The seminar will provide valuable information to help aspiring defence industry businesses across the Illawarra assess the defence market and understand how to pursue opportunities.
