Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting 2018

Today I will travel to London from 16-18 April to participate in what will be an historic Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM). The last time the UK hosted CHOGM was in 1997 in Scotland.

I will address the Commonwealth Women’s Forum on eliminating all forms of violence against women and girls.

During my CHOGM program, I will also speak at the Overseas Development Institute about Australia’s vision for International Development and potential for closer partnerships with the UK, as well as highlighting our strong development partnerships we have with Pacific countries.

I will also meet my United Kingdom counterparts to discuss our bilateral relationship and our programs in the Indo-Pacific region.

Australia is committed to promoting sustainable development. We will work to ensure the Commonwealth maintains its focus on the Pacific and can support the global interests of member states in our region.
